Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands. The airfield is embedded in the Channel Islands Control Zone, so a flight plan and a call to Jersey Control or Approach ten minutes before the boundary is required. Jersey will then clear you into the zone, then hand you to Guernsey Approach. For flight planning, visit www.cicz.co.uk for advice.
The airfield initially opened in 1939 and had 4 grass runways in 1960 before the tarmacked runway was constructed. Construction of a new terminal was commensed in in 2002 and opened 2 years later. It was designed to handle 1.25 million passengers per year.
