Real World, flying clubs take part in FLY-BALL events. These are 1 day events in which pilots fly to as many participating airfields as they can, and collect FLY-BALLS, each of which is numbered. When they land, each participating airfield gives the pilot the highest numbered (scoring) Fly-Ball they have left after other pilots have landed earlier and taken theirs. The CIX CLUB version of this fun event is described below.

1. There will be 16 participating airfields. They are:-
   1. EGCJ
   2. EGKA
   3. EGKB
   4. EGBJ
   5. EGNL
   6. EGNC
   7. EGNV
   8. EGHA
   9. EGBK
   10. EGNJ
   11. EGSC
   12. EGBG
   13. EGCL
   14. EGCW
   15. EGCB
   16. EGSH
2. You must fly Fly FOUR legs, starting at EGCW and finishing at EGSH. Legs chosen must form a continuous route, i.e. A>B, B>C, C>D etc. It is your choice which airfields to fly to and how long each leg is, but you MUST start at EGCW and finish at EGSH.
3. I have sent each airfield a 'virtual set' of 20 Fly-Balls. Each set has a TOTAL value of 600 points. Six of the airfields have fly-balls ranging from 1 point to 70 points, five airfields have fly-balls ranging from 1 to 69 points, and five airfields have fly-balls ranging from 1 to 68 points, -a total of 16 airfields.
4. You must plan and complete a flight FROM the designated departure airfield, to land at 4 of the airfields listed above, and the LAST ONE MUST BE EGSH. You have 10 days to complete the "game".
5. After each flight you must send Neville your flight details (see Help notes below), before 1830Z the next day.
6. You will be awarded the highest value Fly-Ball available at that airfield at the time you shut-down.
7. A running total of scores will be published each day, delayed by 1 day.
8. The highest total score earned, wins.

Monday May 11th 2020. Depart from Welshpool EGCW. Departure not before 1500Z

Friday May 22nd 2020. Arrive at Norwich,EGSH. Last permitted landing time, 2130Z

You will need to use the CIX Flight Logger for each flight, set to FULL LOGGING DETAIL. You must send me a copy of the log-file (details below). Each leg must begin at the participating airfield that the previous leg ended.

At the time of publishing this event plan, ATC has been not been confirmed.  Check the connection software for any ATC on line when you fly.Neville will try to offer ATC, at various times/dates during the period.

Take care not to let our Teamspeak chat cut across ATC. Stop any conversation immediately the R/T comes alive, then continue if "he wasn't talking to us". This is difficult because when transmitting on Teamspeak you can't hear the R/T. So be brief on Teamspeak, and be aware that ATC might be trying to get through. If anyone hears an R/T message which seems to be being ignored, just say "ATC is calling G-CIXN" if you have identified the callsign, or "ATC is calling us" which is a cue for everyone to be quiet on Teamspeak until ATC call again (which they will). Remember too that if asked to "Stand By" by ATC, you do not reply - not even "Roger", but simply wait until you are called again.

Remember also that there are several different ATC frequencies in use, and you may not be able to hear when communications are taking place. Make sure you have set and know how to use a Teamspeak mute switch.

1. The Airfields. Link to PlanG to show the distribution of the airfields across the UK.
2. Finding the logger log files and sending the information to Neville. Using Windows Explorer:
   1. Find and open the CIX LOGGER REPORTS FOLDER in your C: drive. [C:/CIX Logger/Reports] You will see 2 files for each Flight, last flight at the top. - 1) a datetime.txt file and 2) a datetime.igc file.
   2. Open the TEXT file for your last flight, using NOTEPAD. COPY (NOT CUT) the FULL contents of the file and paste into a Club Message (Forum/Messages/Send). Please title them with "MAY STAR Leg x". X being the leg, or legs being flown.
   3. Each evening at about 1900Z Neville will process the previous days positions. He will have entered all but daily positions as soon as possible.
   4. Logger records received AFTER 1900Z next day will be regarded as late bookings, regardless of when you flew it the previous day!
   5. Neville will (hopefully) post updated results for the previous day by 2000Z. DO NOT CUT & paste the data - it could give your logger a problem.
3. If sending multiple flights, we recommend opening a notepad file and pasting each flight in order into that file, then saving it.  Then paste the text from there into your Forum message.
4. Please exercise good airmanship and discipline in the circuit. If another aircraft is already in the circuit, DO NOT jump in ahead of him.
