| Overview |
This route consists
of just groups of letters and numbers,
which (hopefully) you will recognise as something familiar.
You the pilot must break the code to create your
flight plan. The revealed information will become apparent
as well known towns or cities. As you fly over them
you will be expected to name them. On arriving at your
Destination you will call for a touch and go followed
by a go around followed by a full stop landing. You certainly
will be considered a security risk if you try and land
from your first approach. Beware; some of you will almost
certainly be required to perform an overhead join before
being given (security) clearance to land.

This event is scheduled
for Tuesday June 26th 2018, starting at 7pm British Summer
Time – 18:00
UTC. You will depart from a familiar airfield (if you
have been paying attention to the Club's recent activities).
You will arrive at an airport near the Foster home of
a famous childhood doctor. Don't ask Who! The event
is to be flown on VATSIM. |

Please remember Aviate,
Navigate, Communicate. Don't get so absorbed in
your code breaking that you end up somewhere where you
won't be welcome. GCHQ could be watching you! |

You must file a flight plan for this trip.

get it wrong, we can have the appropriate officers waiting for you on arrival.

| Weather |
Before starting we will check the weather. If it isn't suitable for our flight, we can of course change it in the sim, but please use VATSIM weather if at all possible for greater realism, and a more interesting challenge. |
| ATC |
At the time of publishing
this event, ATC has not been confirmed. However, it probable
that there will be ATC provided for departure and arrival,
be it by Club members or by VATSIM personnel. |
| What Aircraft can I fly? |
Any aircraft can be flown in this event as long as it is within the EASA Light Aircraft category. |

included in this package. You must break the code to
compile your own flight plan. |
| Radio Discipline |
Take care not to let our Teamspeak chat cut across ATC. Stop any conversation immediately the R/T comes alive, then continue if "he wasn't talking to us". This is difficult because when transmitting on Teamspeak you can't hear the R/T. So be brief on Teamspeak, and be aware that ATC might be trying to get through. If anyone hears an R/T message which seems to be being ignored, just say "ATC is calling G-CIXN" if you have identified the callsign, or "ATC is calling us" which is a cue for everyone to be quiet on Teamspeak until ATC call again (which they will). Remember too that if asked to "Stand By" by ATC, you do not reply - not even "Roger", but simply wait until you are called again.
Remember also that there may be several different ATC frequencies in use, and you may not be able to hear when communications are taking place. Make sure you have set and know how to use a Teamspeak mute switch. |
