Christmas Caper: Iceland Tour
December 2012

Our event this month is the Christmas Caper. We will be touring round Iceland, starting and ending at Keflavik, which is in the South West of Iceland. The event was planned by our Event Manager, Edward Warnell. Edward has written the Briefing Document.

Push-Ups for Pilots: Landings
November 27th 2012

Our event this month takes us on a short tour of the West Midlands to the North and East of Gloucester, in a loop, returning to Gloucester. We will be practicing non-standard landings, which could prove interesting. If you are honest, how long is it since you did a flapless or a glide approach? And what about a low visibility circuit? You may fly the loop clockwise or anticlockwise as you wish. The event was planned by our CFI, Peter Dodds. Peter has written the Briefing Document.

Isle Of Man Heli Shuttle
October 30th 2012

October's event will put your helicopter flying skills to the test. Departing from Blackpool, you will fly north and cross the Irish sea to Douglas & then on to Ronaldsway airport. After a fuel stop & a freshen up you will fly back across the sea to land at Liverpool Airport. The event was planned by our Events Manager, Edward Warnell. Edward has written the Briefing Document.

CIX on the Basque Country
September 27th 2012

We're taking a late summer holiday in the north of Spain, touring round the Basque Country. Choose at least two from six planned routes between three airports, or fly all six if you have the time. The event was planned by Club member Francisco Garcia Garrido, who has done an excellent and thorough job. Francisco has written the Briefing Document.

Northern Ireland Tour
August 15th 2012

August's Event is taking the CIX VFR Club out of England. It is an event which will take you around the whole country to experience the amazing Northern Ireland The event was planned by Zack Millar. Edward Warnell and Zack Millar have written the Briefing Document.

STOL Flying into Lundy
July 16th 2012

July's event is an event to test your piloting skills flying a STOL aircraft, a microlight, or a helicopter into a very tricky landing site on the island of Lundy. There's a small scenery file to install. The event was planned by Edward Warnell. Edward has also written the Briefing Document.

Splashdown in Scotland
June 18th 2012

You'll need a floatplane for this adventure in Scotland, and there's a small scenery file to install. The event was planned by Edward Warnell and Mel Kirk. Edward has written the Briefing Document.

Those Magnificent Men
March 30th 2012

This month's challenge, should you accept it, is to get as far as you can in a VINTAGE BIPLANE. We will start from the Clubhouse at Biggin Hill, and fly as far as we can before returning to the clubhouse for tea and medals. More details in the Club forum.

May and April 2012

There were no Star Events planned for these two months. Members visited an additional Guest Airfield instead.

Otherton Fly-in
February 20th 2012

You'll need a microlight, or small light aircraft for this month's fly-in to Otherton in Staffordshire. Max Symons has written the briefing and you can read it here.

Bogart to Hemingway: The Florida Keys
January 25th 2012

Join us for an early evening sky-cruise through the Florida Keys. We'll be starting from Bogart's Key Largo, and finishing at Hemingway's key West. To spice it up a bit we'll be getting our feet wet, so don't forget to wear those floats! For full details, see the Briefing Document.
